Volvo Semi-trailer tractor (BC)

The register lists here 17 versions with 338 to 488 kW from six-cylinders of 12,000 to 16,123 cm³, unladen weights from 7,590 to 11,337.5 kg, gross weights from 20,000 to 36,000 kg, lengths from 6,020 to 7,650 mm and widths from 2,500 to 2,550 mm.

Articulated tractors of this class form the backbone of Finnish long-haul transport, which, because of the long distances between economic centres and the high gross combination weights permitted in Finland, traditionally relies on powerful engines and robust axle construction.

On a used tractor of this class, the engine's mileage and the service history of the turbocharger and exhaust aftertreatment matter, the condition of the fifth wheel and its lubrication, rust on the frame and air tanks, and on the most powerful versions the condition of the clutch and gearbox under high combination load.
