Round balers such as the RF and RV ranges are standard equipment in grassland farming, pressing grass, hay or silage into round bales for forage storage; fixed-chamber balers produce evenly dense bales of a set size, while variable-chamber balers adjust bale size steplessly to match yield and storage needs.

The baler is driven from the tractor's power take-off at 1,000 rpm and is towed by a swinging drawbar or a ball-type coupling rather than the three-point linkage, since the baler's weight is carried on its own running wheels. A cam-type or slip clutch in the drivetrain protects the bale chamber and pickup as soon as a foreign object or an overly dense swath suddenly raises the power demand.
