Van Berne Other models

The register lists here 114 versions with unladen weights from 290 to 6,140 kg and gross weights from 1,000 to 10,900 kg. Widths lie between 1,500 and 2,550 mm.

The span from just under 300 kg to over 6 tonnes unladen weight and up to almost 11 tonnes gross weight covers a broad field from light single-axle trailers to multi-axle versions for building materials, machinery and general cargo. The high count of 114 recorded models against comparatively few actually distinct names shows a finely graded type series grown over many years, in which successive variants differed mainly in weight and in the letter version D, B, S or V.

On a used example, the condition of frame and drawbar, corrosion on axles and welded fittings, the function of the overrun brake and the entire braking system, the condition of the load-bed boards, and tyres and wheel bearings all matter. On the heavier tandem versions, it is also worth checking the axle suspension and the trailer coupling for wear.
