The Q225 is powered by a six-cylinder diesel engine of 7,400 cm³ displacement, reaching its maximum rated output at 2,100 rpm. At a permissible gross weight of 16,000 kg, an unladen weight of 9,200 kg and a wheelbase of 3,050 mm, the tractor is one of the largest standard tractors in Valtra's line-up, with a payload reserve of nearly 6,800 kg over its unladen weight.
Large six-cylinder tractors of this power class pull the widest cultivation and seeding equipment in modern arable farming and drive heavy trailers and harvesting machinery through the 540 or 1,000 rpm power take-off on extensive large-scale fields. The large gap between unladen and permissible gross weight allows for extra ballast or heavy front-mounted implements.
On a used Q225, it is worth looking at the exhaust after-treatment system and the electronic engine management, since modern large six-cylinder tractors of this class carry complex systems to meet emissions rules under heavy daily use. The condition of the tyres and axle bearings also deserves particular attention given the high overall weight, along with the function of all cab controls and the control displays.
