The 800 series from Utb/Universal formed the mid-power class between the smaller 500 series and the larger 3 er-Serie, and, like much of Romanian tractor production, was also built for export to several European countries.

The U-833 DT is powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine of 3,759 cm³ displacement, delivering 65.5 kW (89 hp) and 314 Nm of torque at 2,400 rpm. At an unladen weight of 4,040 kg, a wheelbase of 2,291 mm and a top speed of 30 km/h, the four-wheel-drive tractor is a strong representative of its class, at a ratio of roughly 62 kg of weight per kW.
The combination of a relatively compact wheelbase with four-wheel drive made tractors like this manoeuvrable enough for farms of various sizes, while the four-cylinder engine's 314 Nm of torque provided enough force for the three-point linkage and power-take-off implements at 540 or 1,000 rpm, from soil cultivation to towing trailers.
On a used U-833 DT, it is worth checking the four-wheel-drive hubs and transfer case for play and noise, as well as the engine for compression and oil consumption after many years of field work across different soil types. Given the fairly high unladen weight, the tyres should also be checked for even wear, along with the clutch after years of field work and the hydraulic system for tightness.
