The Universal 600 is powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine of 3,119 cm³ displacement, delivering 42.7 kW (58 hp) and 182 Nm of torque at 2,400 rpm. At an unladen weight of 2,050 kg, a wheelbase of 2,060 mm and a top speed of 25 km/h, the tractor is a light, compact all-purpose tractor, at a ratio of roughly 48 kg of weight per kW.
The rated speed of 2,400 rpm, higher than in comparable Western European models, at a moderate displacement, points to an engine tuned for economy that covered the full range of field work through the three-point linkage and the 540 or 1,000 rpm power take-off, from soil cultivation to towing simple trailers on a modest holding.
On a used Universal 600, it is worth checking the clutch and injection pump, since these parts are often among the first wear points on the widely exported Utb models after years of hard field work. The availability of original parts outside Romania should also be established beforehand, along with the condition of fuel lines and seals after long periods of standing unused outdoors without proper cover from the weather.
