Union Montol is a Bangkok-based farm-equipment distributor that sells Chinese TaiShan-brand tractors (Taishan Guotai) under the joint UM designation across South East Asia. Taishan Guotai ranks among the larger Chinese tractor makers, with a production range from 18 to 200 hp and a daily capacity of around 200 small and 200 mid-size and large machines. The models on this page range from the small UM TaiShan 2044 through the mid-size types 3544 and 4544 to the UM TaiShan 5544 and its off-road variant Spider 3544.

The register lists here 8 versions with 15 to 48 kW, or 20 to 65 hp, all with diesel engines.

As affordable field tractors in the mid power segment, the UM TaiShan models are tailored to rice and field farming in Thailand and neighbouring countries, where they compete with other imported Chinese brands for small and mid-size farms. The Spider designation for the off-road version of the 3544 points to a variant with adapted running gear for uneven or waterlogged ground, common in rice-growing areas.

On used UM TaiShan tractors, operating hours and the condition of the diesel count, along with the tightness of the injection pump, the condition of clutch and gearbox, and corrosion on sheet metal, which progresses quickly in South East Asia's humid, warm climate. On the off-road versions, the condition of axles and tyres also matters, heavily stressed under waterlogged rice-paddy conditions. Parts run through Union Montol's distribution network and regional importers of Chinese equipment.
