Volkswagen Crafter: a class N1 chassis with a 1,968 cm³ four-cylinder diesel, 8,180 mm length, twin rear wheels and a 3,500 kg gross weight
The register entry names Transpol as the registration holder, while the model designation CRAFTER clearly identifies the vehicle manufacturer: Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has built the line since the 2010s as its own large-format model above the Transporter and Caddy, in numerous wheelbase and body variants depending on the fit-out company's needs.

The four-cylinder diesel engine displaces 1,968 cm³. At 8,180 mm long, on a 4,490 mm wheelbase and with six wheels - meaning twin tyres on the rear axle - this is one of the largest chassis variants in the range. Kerb weight of 3,035 kg leaves only about 465 kg of payload against the 3,500 kg gross weight, pointing to a heavy body fitted on top.
As a class N1 chassis, the Crafter can be driven on a category B licence as long as the gross weight stays under 3.5 t. Twin rear wheels improve tip-over stability under tall box bodies and are the usual technical solution for a long wheelbase carrying a heavy build.
When buying a used chassis of this length, it is worth checking the twin rear tyres for uneven wear, which can point to a bent axle. The dual-mass flywheel and injectors wear under high delivery mileage, and a complete service book with documented brake pad changes should be verified before purchase, along with the condition of the leaf springs carrying the rear body.
