An 8.79 m wheelbase spreads the heavy load along a long frame. Unlike most trailers this size, the TRK08 is speed-limited to 80 km/h rather than the usual 100 km/h.
Class O4 trailers run on compressed-air brakes, controlled through the towing vehicle's air line and applying automatically if the connection is severed. The 80 km/h limit allows a lighter specification of brakes and tyres than a full 100 km/h rating, but calls for a clearly visible speed plate and matching markings on the vehicle.
When buying used, check the condition of the air-suspension bellows, the tightness of the air lines and wear on the brake drums or discs. On the long frame, look for distortion and rust pockets on the cross members; at the fifth-wheel coupling, check play at the kingpin; and on the axles, look for even tyre wear as a sign of sound axle geometry. It is also worth testing the lighting system and its plug connector to the towing vehicle, since contact corrosion here is a common source of faults.
