TT 22 by Taunus: water-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine rated at 16.2 kW (22 hp) in unit construction, built in 1948 as a small tractor.
The TT 22 belongs to the immediate post-war generation of German small tractors from 1948, of the kind built by numerous manufacturers at the time for the urgently needed revival of agriculture. Unit construction, where the engine, clutch and gearbox form a single load-bearing housing without a separate frame, was typical for this class.

The TT 22 is powered by a water-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine of 2,189 cm³ displacement, delivering 16.2 kW (22 hp) at 1,500 rpm. With a 1,630 mm wheelbase, rear-wheel drive, and a four-speed gearbox with one reverse gear, the machine was a simple, rugged small tractor for smaller farms.
Small tractors of this type and power class handled basic field work in the post-war years, where larger machines were unavailable or too expensive: ploughing, harrowing, and driving simple implements through the power take-off. The reduced specification, with only four forward gears and rear-wheel drive, deliberately kept purchase and upkeep simple.
On a used TT 22 from this early post-war period, parts for the engine and gearbox are naturally scarce; the overall condition of the cylinders and crankshaft before purchase therefore matters, since a major engine repair on such an old unit-construction design can become elaborate and costly for a small farm's budget.
