With a gross weight just under the 3.5-tonne mark, the 805 counts among the brand's lighter commercial vehicles, used in its home market and neighbouring countries for delivery and haulage tasks in commercial operation, alongside the heavier off-road and construction trucks for which the marque became better known internationally.

When buying used, check corrosion on the frame, cab and load bed, the condition of the engine and cooling system on a vehicle of this age, the function of brakes and steering, the condition of fuel lines and electrics, and parts supply, which for a vehicle of this era usually runs through specialist classic and commercial-vehicle workshops.

Alongside light commercials such as the 805, Tatra became known above all for its heavy, multi-axle off-road trucks, used worldwide in mining, the military and expedition work; the 805, by contrast, belonged to the light end of the works programme and shared only the brand name with those large trucks, not the engineering.
