With unladen weights above twelve tonnes against a gross weight of only 15 tonnes, these versions are left with a comparatively small payload, typical of massive low-loader semi-trailers built to carry heavy, compact loads, whose own weight already comes from a reinforced frame and heavy axle assemblies. Semi-trailers of this kind are mostly used to haul construction machinery and plant, where the load itself already accounts for much of the permitted gross weight.

On a used heavy low-loader trailer of this kind, the frame and main beams for cracks and deformation, the condition of the axles and tyres, the braking system, kingpin and landing plate, and the hydraulics and locks where the deck can be lowered or extended count; spare parts generally run through the trailer and commercial-vehicle parts trade. When checking the papers, it is also worth comparing axle load, trailer class and registration date with the vehicle's actual condition, especially on older or heavily used examples.
