Stalingrad/Kharkov CXTZ-15/30: four-cylinder kerosene-engined tractor rated at 23 kW and 3,000 kg weight from the early 1930s
The tractor works in Stalingrad (STZ) and Kharkov (KhTZ) built the same CXTZ-15/30 tractor type in parallel as part of the Soviet Union's industrialisation drive during the first five-year plans, a design that followed the layout of American tractors of that era and went in great numbers to the newly formed collective and state farms.

The CXTZ-15/30 is powered by a water-cooled four-cylinder engine running on kerosene instead of petrol or diesel, producing 23 kW (31.5 hp) at 1,000 rpm. At a height of 2,450 mm, a length of 3,485 mm, a width of 1,685 mm and a weight of 3,000 kg, the tractor reaches a design top speed of 7.4 km/h. The wheelbase stands at 2,172 mm.
Kerosene engines were common in agricultural machinery before diesel engines became widely available, since the cheaper kerosene of the time could keep burning once the engine was warmed up on petrol or a starting fuel. The low top speed of 7.4 km/h reflects the era's steel spade-lug wheels rather than pneumatic tyres, typical of the mass build-up of Soviet agricultural machinery at the time.
An example this old is today found essentially only as a collector's or museum piece. At inspection, the completeness of original parts, the condition of the cast block for cracks and the soundness of the steel spoke wheels with their spade lugs count among the most important points, along with comparing fitted parts to the original delivered condition.
