CXTZ-HATI (CXTЗ series) by Stalingrad / Kharkov / Altai: water-cooled four-cylinder engine rated at 38.3 kW (52 hp), built between 1937 and 1949.
The CXTЗ series was the Soviet standard tractor, built from 1937 in parallel at several plants: the Stalingrad Tractor Factory, the Kharkiv Tractor Factory, and, after wartime relocation of production during the Second World War, the Altai Tractor Factory. All three plants produced essentially the same base design, so a given machine could come from any of them without meaningful technical differences.

The CXTZ-HATI carries a water-cooled four-cylinder engine of 7,450 cm³ displacement, running on gasoline or the light fuel common at the time, delivering 38.3 kW (52 hp) at 1,250 rpm. At a weight of 5,100 kg and a top speed of only 7.9 km/h, the machine was built for pulling power rather than road speed, typical of tractors of that generation.
As a wheeled tractor of the pre-war and wartime generation, it served fieldwork on large collective farms: ploughing, harrowing, and driving stationary equipment through the belt pulley. Low running speed and a simple, low-maintenance design mattered more than ride comfort or pace.
Surviving examples today are essentially museum or collector pieces. What matters on a purchase is the condition of the cylinder liners and the water-cooling passages, since new engine parts are barely available, along with the completeness of tyres and fittings, which are frequently missing or reproduced on machines this old.
