Scania Perävaunun vetoajoneuvo (BD) – the collective page of Scania trailer tractor units from the Finnish register: in-line six and V8 engines, 258 to 537 kW, up to 43 tonnes gross weight

Perävaunun vetoajoneuvo (BD) is a vehicle class from the Finnish register Traficom denoting tractor units for trailer operation, in English trailer/tractor units. This page gathers the Scania tractor units registered under this class, which the register carries not by series name (R, S, G or P) but solely by the displacement of the fitted engine. Scania, headquartered in Södertälje near Stockholm, has built trucks since the early 20th century and since 2000 has been majority-owned by the present-day Traton group, controlled by Volkswagen; the brand's hallmark is a modular engine design – in-line six-cylinders of roughly 9 to 13 litres and a V8 of 15.6 to 16.4 litres, built across all ranges from the same basic components.

The register lists here 33 versions with 258 to 537 kW from six- to eight-cylinders of 10,640 to 16,353 cm³ displacement, unladen weights from 9,410 to 16,030 kg, gross weights from 22,500 to 43,250 kg, lengths from 6,750 to 11,150 mm and widths from 2,500 to 2,600 mm.

Scania tractor units are strongly represented in Finnish long-haul transport and Nordic timber haulage, where long vehicle combinations with high gross weights are common; the V8 engine has been regarded as the brand's hallmark in heavy and long-haul transport since the 1970s.

On used Scania tractor units, the engine's service history (oil-change intervals, turbocharger condition), wear on the clutch and fifth-wheel coupling plate, the frame and air suspension, and at high mileages the condition of the retarder all count; spare parts run through Scania's dense service network.
