The all-wheel-drive version of a standard tractor considerably improves traction during ploughing and on loose ground compared with the rear-wheel-drive-only version, which is why many Italian makers offered it as a standard DT variant. The air-and-oil cooling of this three-cylinder engine, as with other SAME models of this generation, dispenses with a classic water radiator.
When buying a used Taurus 60 DT, the front axle joints and the transfer case of the all-wheel-drive system should be checked for play and leaks, since these components are placed under particular strain during intensive drawbar work. The air-and-oil cooling also deserves close inspection, since fouled cooling ducts lead to engine damage more quickly with this system than with water cooling.
