The three-cylinder engine runs on air-and-oil cooling, displaces 3,000 cm³ and delivers 51.5 kW at 2,350 rpm, equivalent to 70 horsepower, with 236 Nm of torque. With a weight of 2,400 kg, a wheelbase of 2,245 mm and a top speed of 30 km/h, the all-wheel-drive system powers all four wheels.

All-wheel drive combined with a compact, air-and-oil-cooled three-cylinder engine was intended for medium-sized holdings needing extra traction on uneven or loose ground, without having to move up to a heavy four-cylinder tractor. This combination of manoeuvrability and improved traction made such models versatile.

When buying a used Aster 70 DT, the front-axle drive joints should be checked for play, since they wear faster under intensive all-wheel-drive use than on a rear-wheel-drive-only tractor. The air-and-oil cooling also deserves close inspection for fouling and leaks, since faults in this cooling system can quickly lead to engine damage. It is also worth looking at the tread depth on all four tyres, since uneven wear with the four-wheel drive engaged can point to a fault in the transfer case.
