Roadless – other models: the collective page of British 4x4 conversions from Hounslow outside the named ranges, from the Fordson Dexta to the Fordson Major Half-Track, 73 to 85 kW (98 to 114 hp), Ford and Perkins engines
This page gathers the Roadless tractors the register could not assign to a named range. Roadless Traction, based in Hounslow near London, factory-fitted Fordson tractors such as the Dexta, Super Dexta and Major with four-wheel drive, and in some cases also as a half-track version (Fordson Major Half-Track) for work on soft and sloping ground; the engines came from Ford, including the 2714E and 2715E, and occasionally from Perkins with the F3.152 unit.

The register lists here 15 versions, mostly with a diesel engine, with 73 to 85 kW, or 98 to 114 hp.
Four-wheel-drive conversions of this kind were widespread mainly in Britain and Ireland on wet, sloping grassland and in forestry, where the standard Fordson rear-wheel drive reached its limits; Roadless thereby supplied both farming businesses and military and municipal users.
Buyers of used units should check the four-wheel-drive mechanics – transfer case, drive shafts and, on the half-track versions, track undercarriage and tensioning rollers – for wear, as well as the engine and clutch as on any Fordson classic, plus rust on the bodywork and axle housings; since Roadless itself no longer exists, spares for the conversion components run mainly through Fordson specialists.
