Renault R-Reihe

The register lists here 3 versions with 22.1 to 25.8 kW, or 30 to 35 hp, from four-cylinder engines of 1,997 to 3,140 cm³, a uniform unladen weight of 1,740 kg, lengths from 2,650 to 3,110 mm, widths from 1,204 to 1,520 mm, heights from 1,750 to 1,800 mm and speeds from 1,600 to 2,200 rpm.

With power around 30 to 35 hp and the combination of petrol and diesel engines typical of the period, the R range belongs to Renault's early post-war tractors, which accompanied the shift from horse-drawn work to motorised agriculture on smaller French farms.

On a used R-range tractor, the condition of the engine and carburettor or injection pump depending on the fuel type, rust on the sheet-metal panels and chassis, the condition of the steering and brakes, and the completeness of fittings, which on these early models were often altered or replaced over the decades, all count. Given the age of these tractors, a check for cracks in the cast-iron block and gearbox housing is also worthwhile before any purchase.
