Like the Ceres range, Pales too is named after a Roman deity, the protector of shepherds and pastures. The range from Renault Agriculture of Le Mans comprises the Pales 210 and Pales 230 models; the engines came among others from Deutz. Using outside engines such as Deutz units alongside its own powerplants was a common cost-saving practice among smaller farm-machinery makers of the time.

The register lists here 2 versions with 39.0 to 49.0 kW, or up to 52 hp, from three- to four-cylinder engines of 2,827 to 3,770 cm³, an unladen weight of 2,570 to 2,700 kg, a lift capacity of 2,485 kg, a length of 3,610 to 3,770 mm and a height of 2,300 to 2,630 mm.
With its moderate power and compact build, the Pales range targeted smaller and medium-sized arable and grassland farms in France and the rest of Western Europe. As compact all-purpose tractors, the Pales models also suited farms with limited space in the yard and barn.
Buyers of used units should, depending on the engine fitted, check the injection system, as well as the clutch, gearbox and hydraulics, and rust on the bodywork and frame; spares run through the Claas dealer network, which took over support for the older Renault ranges. Before purchase it is also worth checking the lift hydraulics and the condition of the mounting points.
