The Renault LB range complemented the TS series in the lower and mid power segment and was likewise built at the Renault plant in Le Mans; the register lists here the 50-12 LB, 55-12 LB, 55-14 LB, 551/551.4 and 70-14 LB. As with the TS series, the first figure in the type designation names the power class in hp, the second the number of speeds.

The register lists here five versions with 33.1 to 49.3 kW, or 45 to 67 hp, from three- or four-cylinder engines of 2,827 to 3,770 cm³ displacement, torque from 145 to 222 Nm, unladen weights from 2,005 to 2,500 kg, lengths from 3,524 to 3,745 mm, widths from 1,615 to 1,678 mm and heights from 2,255 to 2,400 mm at a rated speed of 2,350 rpm.

As compact field tractors, the LB range was aimed at smaller and medium farms and in Renault's programme of the time covered the segment below the larger TS models, competing with comparable ranges from Fiat, Massey Ferguson and Deutz.

When buying used, the condition of the injection pump and cooling system, wear on clutch and gearbox and corrosion on wings and sheet-metal parts matter; spare parts for this Renault generation are stocked by specialist farm-machinery dealers and parts traders for historic Renault equipment. They suited farms with limited yard access particularly well, where the more compact dimensions offered an advantage over the TS range.
