Rakovica is the tractor brand of the Yugoslav, now Serbian, group IMR (Industrija Mašina i Traktora), based in the Belgrade district of Rakovica; the R range names approximately the power in hp in its type designation, as with the R 65 super and R 76 super models. IMR grew within Yugoslavia's planned economy into one of the country's most important farm-machinery makers with a broad model range.

Rakovica tractors covered a large share of arable farming in Yugoslavia and, like many products of the non-aligned states, were also exported to other Eastern European and non-European markets. The simple, robust construction of the R range was designed for a long service life under sometimes difficult workshop conditions.
Buyers of used units should check the injection pump, clutch and gearbox, on the cabbed version also seals and bearings, as well as rust on the bodywork and frame; outside the Balkan region spares are mainly available through collectors and specialist dealers. The inspection should also cover the steering, brakes and the condition of the hydraulic hoses.
