A loader wagon such as the EuroProfi 5000 D picks up swathed forage using a tine pick-up and passes it to a feed rotor, whose rows of tines loosen and chop the material and carry it into the load body. At the floor of the load body, a scraper-floor chain pushes the forage further forward, while metering rollers at the outlet control an even, precisely dosed discharge into a chopper, feed mixer or directly into the feed trough.

Size depends on load-body volume and throughput, which need to match tractor power and the distance between field and farmyard. On the road, the vehicle is subject to the general rules on width, lighting and marking.

On a used machine, what counts is the condition of the pick-up tines for wear and breakage, the sharpness and completeness of the feed rotor's knives, the condition of the scraper floor and its chain, and how freely the metering rollers turn along with their wear. Rust at the frame and side panels, and the condition of the tyres, also belong on the checklist. It is also worth checking the hydraulic hoses for the side-panel and tailgate adjustment, along with the tyres, which carry a heavy load when the body is full.
