The Standard range was Porsche Diesel's core programme between 1956 and 1963 and, besides the plain Standard, covered several equipment lines: the N versions, the T version and the Star models as the upgraded variant. As the brand's most widely built model programme, the Standard range shaped the image of Porsche Diesel on West German farms of the late 1950s and early 1960s and competed directly with Fendt, Eicher, Hanomag and Deutz; the Star versions marked the technically more elaborate variants within the programme.
On a used Standard, the condition of the air-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine, the tightness of the cooling fan and oil circuit, rust on the wings and sheet-metal panels, and the condition of the steering, brakes and electrics all count; given the many equipment variants, it is worth carefully matching the type plate and chassis number to the specific model designation before buying.
