Oliver was an American tractor manufacturer based in South Bend, Indiana, later absorbed into the White Motor Corporation. The 80 Series occupied the upper power segment of the Oliver line-up in the late 1930s and 1940s, below the 90 Series.

A displacement of almost 5 litres at a low speed of 1,200 rpm delivered high torque for heavy drawbar work such as multi-furrow ploughing; this low-speed, large-displacement approach was typical of American farm tractors of the period, which favoured durability and steady pull over high revs. The very low top speed of 7 km/h confirms a design aimed purely at fieldwork rather than road transport.
