The Österreichische Automobilfabrik (ÖAF), with a plant in Vienna-Floridsdorf, built heavy trucks and belonged to the MAN group from the 1970s; the type logic, with the first number giving the weight class and the second the engine power, followed the same scheme as its German parent MAN.

ÖAF trucks shaped Austrian long-haul and construction-site operation for decades and competed directly with Steyr on the domestic market; after full integration into the MAN group the standalone brand disappeared, though its vehicles long remained in the fleets of Austrian hauliers.
On these heavy trucks, the condition of the engine and gearbox, the frame and axles, the braking system, and, on construction vehicles, the tipper hydraulics and bed all count; because ÖAF is closely related to MAN technically, many wear parts are available through the MAN spare-parts network.
