The Faktor II (NG 20 b) is powered by a twin-cylinder diesel engine of 2.1 litres with thermosiphon cooling, delivering 16.1 kW at 1,500 rpm, roughly 22 hp. At an unladen weight of 1,398 kg, a length of 2,600 mm, a height of 1,550 mm and a wheelbase of 1,730 mm, the machine has a design top speed of 20 km/h.
Thermosiphon cooling relies on the natural circulation of heated water without a pump, a simple and rugged solution on twin-cylinder diesels of the post-war years. At just over 1.4 tonnes unladen, the Faktor II was light enough not to sink excessively into soft ground and heavy enough to control drawn implements safely; it covered the mid range of drawbar work for tillage, transport and power-take-off implements on holdings that did not need a large six-cylinder tractor.
When buying a twin-cylinder tractor of this age, the condition of the cooling lines, tightness of the injection pump and wear on clutch and gearbox are the main checks. Axle bearings and brake drums are also worth checking; rust on load-bearing panels is common after decades of use and should be assessed before purchase. The condition of the fuel tank and its mounting straps is also worth a look.
