NAW – other models: Swiss heavy trucks from the Nutzfahrzeuggesellschaft Arbon & Wetzikon, six-cylinder with 5.96-litre displacement, gross weight 10,200 to 18,000 kg
NAW, the Nutzfahrzeuggesellschaft Arbon & Wetzikon, was formed in 1982 as the successor to Swiss truck production by Saurer and Mercedes-Benz and built heavy trucks for the Swiss and neighbouring markets until production ended in 2003. This page gathers the versions of the brand the register could not assign to a named range, including the BH2 and LU 1720 types. Production took place in Arbon on Lake Constance, the traditional home of the Swiss commercial-vehicle industry, where Saurer had built trucks since the early twentieth century.

The register lists 2 versions here with a six-cylinder engine of 5,955 cc, kerb weights from 6,755 to 9,940 kg, gross vehicle weights from 10,200 to 18,000 kg, a length of 8,350 mm and widths from 2,300 to 2,500 mm.
NAW trucks were common in Switzerland as rugged construction and haulage vehicles, where narrow mountain-pass roads and alpine terrain placed high demands on the drivetrain and brakes, and they competed there, alongside the Saurer successors, with Mercedes-Benz and MAN.
For a used example of these now rare vehicles, check for rust on the chassis and cab, the condition of the engine, gearbox and brake system, and parts supply, which since NAW production ended has been possible only through remaining stock and commercial-vehicle specialists.
