Notable is the low kerb weight of 5,010 kg, giving a payload of 18,990 kg – almost 80 per cent of the gross weight. At 9,430 mm long and 2,540 mm wide, with a 6,200 mm wheelbase, this is a build optimised for maximum payload rather than low self-weight, suited to bulk goods or other dense cargo where every kilogram of kerb weight cuts into the possible payload.
Driving such a combination requires at least a category CE licence. Such a high payload share of the gross weight calls for careful loading, so that axle loads stay within permitted limits despite the low kerb weight; uneven load distribution affects driving stability more on a light frame than on a heavy one.
When buying used, given this lightweight ratio, frame inspection matters especially: cracks and fatigue on the main beams appear earlier on overloaded lightweight frames than on heavier constructions. The air brake system and axle suspension should be checked on a test rig, as should the tyres for load capacity sufficient for the high payload.
