The three-cylinder engine displaces 1,318 cm³ and produces 25 hp, or 18 kW, at 2,500 rpm, and is water-cooled. On a 1,710 mm wheelbase the MTU26 weighs just 1,176 kg, measuring 3,190 mm in length, 1,400 mm in width and 2,389 mm in height. Its hydraulics lift up to 1,200 kg, a strong figure for attachments in this size class.
The compact dimensions and tight turning circle of such three-cylinder tractors are matched to narrow field tracks, rice paddy banks and row spacing in orchards, where larger tractors could no longer turn. The comparatively high hydraulic lift capacity allows heavier attachments to be used despite the low weight, such as rotary tillers or mowers fitted through the three-point linkage. The power take-off is likewise available to drive such attachments.
When buying a used example, check the condition of the hydraulic pump and valves for the lift, wear on the three-cylinder engine, and rust, which is favoured by humid climates and rice-field use. Spare parts outside Japan are limited for this small series.
