Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, based in Kawasaki, Japan, has built the Canter as a light truck since 1963; Daimler has held a majority stake in the company since 2003. The type designation FE85B points to the 7.5-tonne gross vehicle weight class, also shown in the model names as 7.5T; the suffixes BG, BH and BJ denote trim and chassis variants. The Canter name has stood as a byword for the light Fuso truck since the 1960s and has been carried through several generations and across continents.
