The LS15 is a trailer with a fixed crane attachment that stays within EU class O2 at a gross weight of 3,500 kg, the bracket up to 3,500 kg where overrun brakes are still the standard technology. Depending on the combination's total weight, it can therefore be towed on a category B96 or BE licence without a separate CE approval.

At 3,490 kg, the kerb weight sits only just below the 3,500 kg gross weight: on a crane trailer, the real payload is the crane itself rather than extra cargo on a deck. With a 6,040 mm wheelbase and four wheels on a 2,200 mm width, the LS15 is long and narrow, giving it room on tight site tracks and access roads that a wider trailer would not have.

Trailers of this type combine a trailer type approval with a piece of working equipment, so they fall under both the rules for class O2 trailers and the inspection duties for lifting equipment. The overrun brake must work independently of the crane operation, and the noseweight at the trailer coupling must not be exceeded by the heavy crane structure.

When buying used, besides the usual trailer checks – overrun mechanism, hitch head, tyres, lighting – the crane itself matters most: outriggers, hydraulic hoses for leaks, play in the boom bearings and the function of the remote control. Since the kerb weight uses up almost the entire gross weight, checking the combination's actual weight before every trip is worthwhile to stay under the 3,500 kg limit.
