The V-Class is the passenger-carrying version of the Mercedes-Benz Vito, built in its current generation since 2014; it shares its platform and drivetrain with the commercially oriented Vito but differs through a higher level of interior trim and, in the Tourer version, extra rows of seats. The 220d designation gives the power step of the four-cylinder diesel. Like the Vito, the V-Class is built at the Spanish plant in Vitoria.

As a van for up to eight people, the V-Class competes with the VW Multivan and, besides families, serves as a shuttle and commercial passenger-transport vehicle; the Tourer trim with variable seating also makes it an interesting basis for motorhome conversions.
When buying a used V-Class, check the condition of the eight- or seven-speed automatic, the tightness of the sliding doors, the function of the electric seat adjustment in higher trims, and, on the diesel engines, the condition of the turbocharger and exhaust after-treatment. Parts run through the regular Mercedes-Benz Vans network and are readily available.
