The GLB fills the gap at Mercedes between the compact GLA and the larger GLC and scores with an optional third row of seats in a compact footprint; the commercial N1 registration of individual versions lowers VAT and vehicle tax on company cars in several European countries, without resorting to the body of a classic commercial vehicle.

On a used GLB, the condition of the dual-clutch transmission and turbocharger, the timing chain on petrol versions, the particulate filter and AdBlue system on diesels, and the suspension bushes and brakes count; as a relatively young model, servicing and parts run through the regular Mercedes service network.
