The W902 chassis code denotes the closed panel van body of the first Sprinter generation, built from 1995 at the Düsseldorf plant. The model designations 208CDI to 216CDI come from the facelift launched in 2000, when Mercedes-Benz introduced the common-rail CDI diesel engines, replacing the earlier distributor injection pump; the first digit denotes the weight class, the following two the power level.
