Lift King rough-terrain forklifts LK50R to LK1248R – Canadian heavy-duty rough-terrain trucks from Ontario: LK for Lift King, the number as capacity in thousand pounds, R for Rough Terrain, Perkins and Cummins engines

Lift King of Woodbridge near Toronto has built rough-terrain forklifts since the 1970s for sawmills, builders' yards, the military and oilfields – machines with rear mast and big tyres that work on gravel, mud and log yards where warehouse trucks cannot drive. The type logic follows the North American convention: LK stands for Lift King, the number gives the capacity in thousand pounds – LK50R 5,000 lb, LK80R 8,000 lb, LK120R 12,000 lb, LK150R 15,000 lb – on the four-digit types such as LK1048R and LK1248R the lift height in feet follows the capacity; R marks the rough-terrain version with all-wheel drive. The engines come from Perkins (1004-40T of 4.0 litres) and Cummins (4B3.9 and 4BT3.9 of 3.9 litres, B5.9 of 5.9 litres), four- and six-cylinders as usual in this class. The register lists the range among telehandlers because rough-terrain forklifts are assigned to the same equipment category in North America.

The register lists 11 versions with 56.7 to 115.6 kW, service weights from 7,983 to 13,699 kg and heights from 2,400 to 2,670 mm.

Lift King belongs with Sellick and Manitou to the few remaining makers of heavy rough-terrain forklifts in North America; the military versions serve with the Canadian and US forces.

On used trucks, operating hours, the condition of mast, chains and carriage, lift and tilt cylinders, torque converter and axles, tyres and parts supply, which runs through Perkins and Cummins for the engines and Lift King for the machine, are what count.
