Tipping semi-trailers such as the SKS-HS range carry sand, gravel, excavated soil and similar bulk goods and are unloaded through a hydraulically raised tipping body at the rear or to the side. Alongside Meiller, Kempf and Fliegl, Langendorf is one of the established German manufacturers of this design and mainly supplies construction and recycling companies. Tipping semi-trailers of this design have shaped construction-site traffic in Germany and neighbouring countries for decades, shuttling between quarry, building site and landfill.
When buying used, the tipping cylinder, tipping body and the bearings of the tipping axle should be checked for wear and leaks, along with the frame, brakes, air suspension and kingpin. Corrosion of the body caused by abrasive bulk goods is a common weak point; spare parts are available through the German commercial-vehicle trade, and partly directly from Langendorf.
