The R1 range from Lamborghini Trattori of Pieve di Cento formed a compact model line below the big standard tractors; the R1.35, R1.45 and R1.55 designations order the three versions by rising power within the same basic size. All three models carry a four-cylinder diesel engine and were aimed at smaller and mid-size farms needing a versatile, compact tractor that could still handle a front loader or a full set of three-point implements.

Unladen weights fall between 1,250 and 1,320 kg, one version additionally fitted with a roll bar at 1,250 kg; lengths run from 2,950 to 2,980 mm, widths from 1,220 to 1,360 mm and heights from 1,955 to 2,020 mm.
Compact ranges such as the R1 rounded off Lamborghini's line-up from below and competed with similarly small models from group sister SAME and other Italian and German makers; they suited smaller fields, fruit and vine growing, and work with front hydraulics and PTO-mounted implements.
On a used purchase of these compact diesels, the condition of the injection pump and clutch counts, the gearbox and hydraulic system, on the roll-bar version its mounting and condition, and rust on mudguards and sheet-metal parts; parts run through the SAME Deutz-Fahr network.
