Lamborghini DL series – Ferruccio Lamborghini's tractors from Cento before the sports cars: DL 15 to DL 48-52, the number as hp class, two- to four-cylinder diesels of 1.0 to 3.5 litres, 11 to 37 kW

Before Ferruccio Lamborghini built sports cars in 1963, he built tractors: in 1948 he founded Lamborghini Trattori in Cento near Ferrara, at first from military-surplus engines, from the 1950s with his own designs – the DL range is that programme of the 1950s and early 1960s, the tractors with which the company became one of Italy's big makers. The type logic: DL marks the range, the number the hp class – DL 15 about 15 hp, DL 25 25 hp, DL 30 30 hp, the double numbers DL 36-40 and DL 48-52 the power band – Super and DLA are upgrade variants. The engines are diesels with two to four cylinders and 1.0 to 3.5 litres of displacement at low rated speeds of 1,500 to 2,000 rpm, air-cooled on the model of the MWM licence Lamborghini acquired in this period.

In 1973 Lamborghini sold the tractor division to SAME of Treviglio; the brand lives on today in the SDF group as Lamborghini Trattori, and the DL models are the collectors' pieces of the founding era.

On used tractors, originality, compression and injection, cooling (blower and cylinder fins), clutch and gearbox and parts supply, which runs through vintage specialists in Italy, are what count.
