The C 100, built in 1990, is powered by a four-cylinder diesel engine of 3,900 cm³ displacement producing 59 kW, equivalent to roughly 80 hp. Unladen weight is 5,300 kg and permissible gross weight is 12,000 kg. The 6,700 kg difference is the payload the machine can carry itself or pull through a trailer coupling. Length and width are 5,300 mm and 2,330 mm.
The articulated chassis steers through a joint at the centre of the vehicle rather than through a steered front axle, allowing tighter turning circles than a standard tractor of the same size. The high permissible gross weight of 12,000 kg points to work with attached implements or bodies, as is typical of the road maintenance and winter clearing duties for which Lännen tractors are known in Finland.
When buying a used articulated tractor the articulation joint itself is the main focus of inspection: play in the joint bearings and the hydraulic steering cylinders is a critical wear point that, under intensive road use and contact with de-icing salt, can lead to cracks around the frame. A general rust check, an inspection of the hydraulic steering and brakes, and the condition of the trailer coupling should also be carried out.
