Kramer, founded in 1934 in Überlingen on Lake Constance, built loaders and special vehicles alongside farm tractors from an early stage, before the company later focused on wheel loaders and telehandlers. The KA range comprised small, manoeuvrable diesel tractors for smaller and mid-size farms as well as viticulture and orchard work; the KA designation combines the maker's initials with the following number as a power or model code, as in the KA 15 and KA 17.

The register lists here 3 versions with 8.1 to 13.2 kW output at 1,800 to 2,000 rpm, from one- to two-cylinder diesels of 763 to 1,305 cm³. Unladen weights range from 955 to 1,225 kg, lengths from 2,590 to 2,830 mm, widths from 1,470 to 1,525 mm and heights from 1,420 to 1,520 mm; all three models run on diesel.
Small tractors like the KA range filled the gap in the post-war decades between single-axle tractors and the big standard tractors, finding buyers chiefly among smaller farms, hillside vineyards and municipal grounds work; Kramer thus competed with similarly small ranges from other southern German makers.
On a used purchase of these small diesel tractors, the condition of the injection pump and fuel lines counts, the clutch and gearbox, the tightness of engine and axles, and rust on mudguards and panels; since Kramer today builds mainly loaders and telehandlers, parts for the old tractors run chiefly through vintage-tractor specialists and used-parts dealers.
