Fairground-ride trailers of this kind are built specifically for the travelling-showman trade: the chassis carries the ride's drive, structure and cladding at once, which is why unladen weight and gross weight lie close together on some versions; they are used by showmen's businesses at fairs and funfairs. The range therefore spans EU vehicle category O2 for light trailers up to category O4 for trailers over 10 tonnes gross weight.

When buying used, these special trailers require checking the chassis, axles, braking system and overrun brake device, as well as the technical approval of the ride structure itself, the condition of hydraulics, electrics and the ride's safety devices, and corrosion on load-bearing parts. Spare parts for the chassis and the ride usually come from specialist showmen's suppliers. The mounting of the structure to the chassis and the service records of the ride's technical inspection are also worth checking.
