John Deere also builds its large field tractors for Europe at the Mannheim plant. The 7030 Series formed a generation of more powerful tractors there above the 6 Series, and the 7930 was produced in this series between 2007 and 2011. Unlike many competitors, the engine comes from John Deere's own production.

The six-cylinder diesel engine, with a displacement of 6,784 cm³, delivers 220 hp, or 161.9 kW, at 2,100 rpm and produces 885 Nm of torque. With a kerb weight of 8,042 kg, a wheelbase of 2,860 mm and a width of 2,208 mm, the tractor reaches a length of 5,394 mm and a height of 3,072 mm – dimensions that clearly place the 7930 in the class of large field tractors.

This size class is built for heavy tillage, large implements and draw-bar work requiring high pulling force, such as ploughing, cultivating or heavy trailer loads. The high torque at a relatively low rated speed of 2,100 rpm is typical of in-house tractor engines tuned for pulling power rather than high revs. The 30 km/h design speed corresponds to the T driving-licence category.

When buying a used 7930, check the cooling system for leaks and scale build-up, since the large six-cylinder engine is put under heavy thermal load at full load. The gearbox and PTO should be checked for unusual noise, and hydraulic couplings for leaks under load. Because the engine is factory-built, spare parts are only available through John Deere dealers.
