Iseki, a Japanese manufacturer, has long built small, water-cooled diesel tractors for paddy fields, horticulture and municipal grounds care. The TX line represents this lightweight class. The engine produces 9.5 kW (13 hp) at 2,700 rpm. The gearbox offers six forward and two reverse speeds, with a top speed of 15 km/h. At an unladen weight of 550 kg and a hydraulic lift capacity of 500 kg, the TX 1300 ranks among the very lightest compact tractors of its era.
Such a small, slow, water-cooled twin is built for precision work in confined spaces: horticulture, small orchards, and paddy fields with their soft, wet ground. At only 15 km/h, the TX 1300 sits well within the licence category reserved for slow tractors up to 40 km/h.
When buying a used tractor of this size, the condition of the water cooling system matters most, since radiators and hoses on decades-old machines are often scaled up or brittle. The hydraulic lift seals and the small gearbox's clutch are also worth checking, along with the diesel injection pump, which on such a small single-cylinder engine is rarely rebuilt locally. Parts for this generation of small Japanese tractors are supplied by only a handful of specialist dealers, and delivery times can be long.
