McCormick-Deering was, from 1923, the tractor name of International Harvester, formed in 1902 in Chicago from the merger of the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and the Deering Harvester Company. The number designation 15-30 follows the era’s common practice of stating drawbar power against belt-pulley power, here 15 against 30 hp; the 22-36 variant gives the correspondingly higher figures. The engines ran on kerosene or petrol.

The 15-30 was among the most widely built all-purpose tractors in the United States during the 1920s and helped spread the power take-off as a drive for stationary and towed equipment, an area in which International Harvester was a driving force behind standardisation at the time.
When buying used examples of such pre-war models, check the condition of cylinder head and pistons after kerosene operation, the magneto ignition, the cooling water system and the state of the steel wheels or a later rubber-tyre conversion; parts today run exclusively through specialist collectors and reproduction parts for classic tractors.
