At 11.96 m long, 2.53 m wide and with an 8.13 m wheelbase, the FHS 4800 sits on a long, multi-axle chassis designed for extended load platforms. The long wheelbase spreads the axle load along the full vehicle length, supporting a slender, load-bearing frame construction.
From class O3 upwards, trailers of this size are generally fitted with air brakes rather than the simple overrun brake used on light trailers. Towing it as a combination requires driving licence category C1E or CE in the EU, depending on the combined train weight. With such a long build, turning radius as a combination and continuous lighting along the vehicle length become their own technical points, and the frame has to resist bending under a long, unevenly supported load.
When buying a used unit, check the long frame: sagging and twisting of the main rails and corrosion on the cross-member welds are typical weak spots on long trailers. Check the air lines along the full length for leaks, test the front and rear lighting, listen to the axle bearings for play, and look over the frame for earlier repairs or bends.
