The D 315 is powered by a water-cooled single-cylinder diesel engine of 1,082 cc, producing 15.5 hp, or 11.4 kW, at 1,980 rpm. At a weight of 1,260 kg, a length of 2,600 mm, a height of 1,300 mm, a width of 1,460 mm and a wheelbase of 1,780 mm, the machine reaches a top speed of 20 km/h.
At just 1,300 mm high, the D 315 was noticeably low-built, which lowered the centre of gravity and improved stability on slopes. Its comparatively high speed of almost 2,000 rpm for a single cylinder allowed compact, light engine components while still delivering sufficient output for a small tractor of this weight class.
When buying such a small tractor, the condition of the injection pump and injectors matters, since they determine the smoothness of this high-revving single cylinder, along with the radiator and water pump for leaks. The gearbox, clutch and brakes should be checked for wear; spare parts for this small and rare model year are now only available from specialist suppliers.
