The Superior 1050 is powered by a single-cylinder engine of 450 cc, designed to run on either petrol or, as an option, diesel, producing 12 hp, or 8.83 kW. At a weight of 320 kg, a length of 1,810 mm, a height of 1,015 mm and a width of 830 mm, with a wheelbase of 1,250 mm, the machine is a very light small tractor with a top speed of 15 km/h.

Such a light single-cylinder small tractor was built for small farms, vineyard work or use in confined spaces, where a heavy standard tractor was neither needed nor manoeuvrable enough. The choice between petrol and diesel versions let buyers opt for the cheaper fuel or the more robust diesel drive, depending on the intended use.

When buying such an old and light small tractor secondhand, the condition of the clutch and gearbox, visible corrosion on sheet-metal and frame parts, and, on the diesel version, the injection pump, or on the petrol version the carburettor and ignition system, matter most. Also worth checking are the brakes and the condition of the tyres; spare parts for such a small and rare Gutbrod model year are now only available through specialist suppliers.
