The Multitrak is powered by an air-cooled two-cylinder diesel engine of 1,305 cc, producing 17 hp, or 12.5 kW, at 2,000 rpm. At a weight of 1,230 kg, a length of 2,760 mm, a height of 1,580 mm and a width of 1,690 mm, with a wheelbase of 1,730 mm, the machine reaches a top speed of 20 km/h.
As an implement carrier, the Multitrak mounts attachments between the axles rather than at the front or rear as on an ordinary tractor, giving a better view of the working tool and a more even weight distribution. Air cooling of the diesel engine made the machine largely immune to frost and did away with a radiator, coolant and water pump as possible weak points, which suited it especially to year-round municipal use.
When buying a Güldner Multitrak secondhand, the condition of the mounting interface between the axles, together with its hydraulic lines, matters most, since it carries most of the mechanical load. Also worth checking are the cooling fins and fan of the air-cooled engine, the diesel injection pump and injectors, and the clutch and gearbox; spare parts for this old implement-carrier series are now only available through specialist suppliers.
