The AG 3 is powered by a water-cooled three-cylinder diesel engine of 1,500 cc, producing 30 hp, or 17 kW. At a weight of 990 kg, a length of 2,300 mm, a height of 1,200 mm and a width of 870 mm, with a wheelbase of 1,130 mm, it is a very compact tractor with a top speed of 19 km/h.
The small overall dimensions and low weight make a compact tractor like this manoeuvrable in tight spaces, for instance between rows in specialist crops, in greenhouses or on small, irregularly shaped plots that a large standard tractor could not access. For heavy drawbar work or large mounted implements, however, the output of a three-cylinder engine this size is not sufficient, and the low ground clearance further limits travel over uneven terrain.
When buying such an old and small tractor secondhand, the condition of the radiator and water pump of the water-cooled engine, and wear in the clutch and gearbox, matter most. Also worth checking are the brakes and visible corrosion on sheet-metal and frame parts; spare parts for such a small and old compact tractor are now usually only available through specialist suppliers, often only to special order.
